Johan Silverman was born in 1959, he’s a jewelry designer who has been active in France in Paris since the early 1990s. In 2012, Ito Narihide a representative of Japanese fashion distribution company Crystal 9 (Ltd.) visited Johan Silverman’s workshop after introduction of an acquaintance and from there he received a great inspiration. At that time, John Silverman was in a state that is difficult to maintain his brand further due to health deterioration. So Ito decided to acquire Johan Silverman’s brand. Currently, Johan Silverman sustains the founder’s original design collections and also involved in working on new collections with renowned designers from all over the world.
Craftsmanship and use of high quality material
Simple and modern jewelry design contains the Johan Silverman’s sensibility of the brand design. It is completed by handcrafted through a various times of sampling. As most premium silver accessories brand brands prefers, the products able to provide stable durability due to the high content of sterling silver (92.5%), 18K gold with diamonds and the display objects are applied rare white metal.
Newly born Johan Silverman, represents a special theme to the collection every time. As same as founder Johan Silverman, the current designers represent the design through inspiration of artworks, architecture, culture, philosophy, books, travel, sound, and scent.
The original collections founder presented <21 Gram> is a flagship collection of the brand. It’s a motif from the research results about the weight of the human soul is 21g and therefore subjects such as abstract fate, wave, circulation, and infinity was put into factors of the jewelry design.
<Epin> was introduced in season 2014 and the collection refers to the thorn of a flower, jewelries carries an appearance of wrapping leaves of plant or a rose thorn.
Unlike products that are finished with smooth surface, the accessories of Johan Silverman are often not finished completely at the final stage of polishing. This incorporates the philosophy of the designer’s belief of silver product which the natural scratches that occurred in the handmade process does represents product’s original glossiness.
In order to show the dramatic shade, the accessories do not go through the sulfur process that most of sterling silver brand does. Therefore, the product naturally oxidises as used. Rather than the artificial sulfur colouring process, the product of Johan Silverman incorporates the philosophy of the founder where he wishes the product reflects user's time.
Johan Silverman once said “We are not able to verify a true beauty only from the appearance of the surface" this serves brand’s own view of the world and directs the brand identity into the product.
2016 is also the year to commemorate the first Korea launch. Johan Silverman, has announced the and presented the finest materials from the nature by crocodile leather, reptile leather, such as snake leather embossed in sterling silver in <Exotic Leather> collection.
Collection is composed of rings and earrings, a cuff button. The product went through an elaborate handwork and often mistaken as the actual scales of reptiles. Thick star-shaped objects and rings and cuff links and earrings look like wrapped in snakeskin and diamond fitted gold rings are the main products.

Johan Silverman Creative Director, Kyohei Odaka, created the cornerstone design of the Johan Silverman through combining artistic component of architect and painting, and biology and anatomical elements. Kyohei odaka unique backgrounds has enabled him to create Johan Silverman exclusive design.

- 3 years work experience at Japanese fashion brand.
Kyohei odaka has met Ito Marihide, CEO of Johan Silverman, in NYC while he was studying at Parson School of design, and later appointed as Johan Silverman Creative Director in 2016.
